Connecting flight

Despite the supposedly smooth and repeatable process that Sunny Ridge and the travel agent have put in place, it turns out that one of the flights we were told was booked on Friday was in fact oversold and is not available. So while we still have a non-stop outbound flight from Chicago to Shanghai, our return journey from Hong Kong now entails a connection in San Francisco. A slight drop in fare is meagre consolation.

This is not good. It's bad enough having to take a long-haul flight with an infant who has never flown before, but now we have to add 6 hours to the journey and deal with changing terminals and planes. Chloƫ will now have to immigrate in SF, which could take time and cause us to miss our connection. We're not very pleased with the agent and/or consolidator, although we're not sure quite where the blame lies, and in any case there's not much point in getting upset about it as the deed is done. We will cope.
